Our very own Kyle, from Wusthof, will be visiting the Portland studio on Thursday, April 24th. He will be teaching a Knife Skills class that evening (sold out) but will be at the studio during the day to sharpen your knives like a ninja! Spring into Life! #4: The Healthy Sweet Tooth Menu Knife Skills taught
Hipcooks Spring into Life! A lifestyle-series at Hipcooks for a healthier, happier you in 4 months. We make a commitment to you by getting to know you in class and working with you, building in each session. In turn we hope to get a commitment from you to try new things for a healthier you! The series consists of four 5-hour workshops, co-taught by a certified nutritionist and a Hipcooks teacher. Each class will consist of tons of information, including a portion of classroom and hands-on cooking time. They are unique and build upon each other. Class 1 Eating for energy. Class 2: Gluten and dairy Free. Class 3: Cleansing, juicing, raw. Class 4: The Healthy sweet tooth We are hoping that you sign up for the entire series. The cost per session is $130 and includes materials, ingredients, food, beverages and handouts. Nothing to bring but a pen for note-taking. To sweeten the pot, if you would like to take the whole 4-course series, we offer a reduced price of $450 for the whole series (a $70 savings).

  • How can you sweeten desserts naturally? Can you not use any gluten or dairy and still get a delicious cake? And I mean delicious, people, not some weird "I am eating a healthy cake" cake. Oh, do you have options!
  • In this class we give an overview of the history of sugar, its effects on the body, how to identify refined sugar in food labels, physical complications from too much refined sugar, how to overcome sugar addiction.
  • Also, what's the deal with high-quality dark chocolate? Once again, you are in luck! We talk about the health benefits of cacao (Food of the Gods).

Have your cake, decorate it, & eat it, too! This two-class series offers all you need to know to create a truly splendid occasion cake. Class 1: Learn the foundations of cake baking, assembly & decoration. You will have your own cake to layer & frost with house-made buttercream. Learn ganache to pour over a cake. Lovely & delicious. Take home a decorating kit, as well as a cake to enjoy.

Hipkids paints a culinary canvas that will ignite your child’s creativity and tempt their taste buds to try new foods. These exciting hands-on classes will guide young chefs on sensory journeys around-the-world. Using touch, sounds, sight, smell and of course, taste, we discover food from far away lands, leaving them with a heightened sense of adventure in the kitchen. $35 (Just to be clear: this is a class for children only! Parents are to drop off and pick up kids!) * Ideal for ages 8-12 * Veggie friendly * Classes include kid-friendly knife skills, Chef’s hat, and take-home recipe booklet Upcoming classes: Fever for the Flavor: Visit the lands of bitter, sweet, spicy, salty and sour. The Brewery ArtWalk takes place two weekends a year, in the Spring and Fall at the worlds largest art colony. Each ArtWalk, over 100 resident artists participate, including your friends at Hipcooks. During this event, you will have the opportunity to see new works, discover new favorites, speak with the artists and purchase artworks directly from the artists at studio prices. Only in Oregon classes bring what's fresh and local from water, pasture, garden, forest, and vineyard to Kitchen - and to Table! Our first class in the series, Salute to the Salmon, will teach you to select the most gorgeous salmon, and how to skin and filet the whole fish. (We're bringing in local forager and "bounty hunter" Mark LaPlante to co-teach this session.) We'll create a beautiful meal using all parts of the fish, surrounded by lovely local ingredients.
